About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the hospitality sector with people who are able to work in management roles, across a range of hospitality sectors.
Graduates will have experience working in the hospitality sector and sufficient and suitable knowledge of the industry to inform their acquisition of hospitality management knowledge and skills at an advanced level.
Graduates will be able to fulfil the requirement of management roles in a wide range of establishments in the hospitality sector.
This qualification also establishes standards of professional practice for hospitality managers that can provide customers with confidence in a range of hospitality environments.

Minimum requirements
Application by Academic Qualification Applicants under 20 years: Applicants should be a minimum of 18 years of age, with a minimum of 4 years and have attained a minimum of 48 NCEA credits at Level 2 or 36 NCEA credits at Level 3; or an equivalent academic indicator Applicants over 20 years: Applicants over the age of 20 years at time of enrolment will be considered where they can demonstrate the ability to succeed in a programme. They may be admitted subject to programme regulations approved by the Head of Faculty in consultation with the Programme Manager as appropriate. Personal commitment and a belief in one s own ability to succeed are important personal traits and will always be taken into consideration during the selection process, or Successfully completed the New Zealand Diploma in Hospitality Management (Level 5).
