About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The Bachelor of Music is an applied, industry-integrated programme targeted at school leavers,
amateur musicians wishing to increase their learning and technical skill, or professional musicians
seeking a formal qualification.
The diverse graduates of the programme will be musically and academically competent
practitioners who are able to apply the skills, knowledge and attributes necessary for successful
participation in the global music industry. In addition, these graduates will be equipped with the
ability to communicate, collaborate and innovate within their industry and across a range of
creative of cultural contexts

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
NCEA Level 3 (60 credits at level 3 and 20 credits at level 2 or higher) which must include 14 credits at Level 3 in each of three approved subjects; and Literacy (10 credits at Level 2 or above made up of 5 credits in reading and 5 credits in writing); and Numeracy (10 credits at Level 1 or above). OR New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 4) Ara Performing Arts Pathway or equivalent OR If you have undertaken examinations other than NCEA (e.g. International Baccalaureate, Cambridge Examination), Ara will assess your qualification for academic entry equivalency. IELTS 6.5 Academic (no lower than 6.0 in all subtests) Additional Requirements apply (Audition)
