About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this micro-credential is to provide the equine sector with ākonga who hold the skills and knowledge to follow thoroughbred racing protocols and can ride on a track safely at pace. This includes understanding thoroughbred racehorse training techniques and principles, communicating effectively within a team and to external stakeholders and describe legislation and employment contract obligations in an equine workplace.
This micro-credential is for ākonga new to the thoroughbred racing industry, or experienced members of the industry who wish to have their existing skills formally recognised.
This aim is achieved by supporting ākonga with both on-job and off-job learning, allowing learning to be applied in a practical way, across a range of situations, within the learner's role in the workplace.
