About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

This micro-credential is designed to cater to diverse learner groups including:

Industry Professionals: In partnership with Tika Catering in South Taranaki. The training program aims to upskill a skilled workforce of 30 employees, enhancing their qualifications within the Hospitality Sector.

Taranaki Secondary Schools: We collaborate with many secondary schools in Taranaki to provide Hospitality and Service Sector based training. Barista training is a popular choice among students, supporting school-leavers in gaining entry-level qualifications for part-time or full-time employment. This training has previously helped learners support themselves during university or secure their first full-time jobs.

Hospitality Sector Entrants: The micro-credential provides an entry point into the hospitality sector, with potential employers including cafés, restaurants, petrol stations, gardening centres, and hair and beauty salons, where espresso coffee service is part of the customer experience.

Community Groups: Churches and community groups often engage in our espresso-based training to enhance their hospitality outreach and manaakitanga.

This micro-credential equips their Hospitality Teams with the skills and knowledge to operate espresso machines safely and to deliver a range of quality hot, cold, and espresso-based beverages.

The micro-credential ensures that learners acquire industry relevant skills and qualifications, enhancing their employability and supporting their career progression within the hospitality sector.
