Entry requirements

All applicants must be at least 16 years of age on the date of the micro-credential's commencement for the intake in which they wish to enrol (or provide a completed Early Release Exemption form), and Have successfully completed a reo Māori qualification or micro-credential at level 5 or above. Special and Discretionary admission options are also available as outlined in Section 2.9 of Te Kawa Maiorooro In assessing whether to grant special or discretionary admission the primary focus will be on the applicant's ability to demonstrate a likelihood to succeed in the micro-credential. Where an applicant does not meet the general admission requirements evidence of an applicant's ability to study at this level will be assessed. Assessment may include: - completion of a reo Māori proficiency test.

About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of Te Waha Papatipu (Level 6) micro-credential is to empower ākonga with deep understanding and analytical skills related to tikanga, whakataukī, whakatauākī, pūrākau, mōteatea, and figurative language use in reo Māori. This is achieved by enabling ākonga to analyse and interpret these elements, developing the ability to articulate their significance and employ them in various contexts.
