Entry requirements

To be eligible for entry, learners must be in an employed arrangement, in a role that enables them to provide the evidence required to achieve the graduate profile outcome(s).
The employer and learner, in conjunction with the Tertiary Education Organisation (TEO) must complete a training agreement.
* Candidates must hold a suitable Health and Safety unit/skills standard or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills (such as 40110 - Work safely when completing basic data cabling tasks).
* Candidates must have achieved a National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA) (Level 2) with Mathematics and English, hold an equivalent qualification or, be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills.

What can I expect out of this qualification?

This micro-credential focuses on developing knowledge and practical skills for working safely on worksites while completing data cable termination and testing tasks. It equips learners to competently handle the termination of a variety of data cables, including twisted pair and fibre optics, ensuring functionality and performance through industry-standard testing methods. Learners will gain an understanding of best practices for terminating and testing cables, adhering to New Zealand's regulatory standards such as AS/NZS 11801, ensuring that the completed installations meet both functional and safety requirements in commercial and enterprise environments.
