Prospective learners must
- be employed or have access to a port operations environment.
- be 16 years or older. 
- Be physically fit to undertake learning and assessment required by each unit component
- Have support from an employer to complete the micro-credential and its associated training and assessment in the workplace.

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this micro-credential is to equip learners with the essential skills and competencies required for the operation of straddle carriers in a port and stevedoring environment. The industry will benefit from having well-trained straddle carrier operators capable of performing their tasks efficiently and safely, ensuring smoother operations and enhanced productivity within the port sector.

Learners who successfully complete this micro-credential will be able to undertake various operational roles involving the operation of straddle carriers in both port and stevedoring environments. Furthermore, this micro-credential offers a pathway towards the New Zealand Certificate in Port Operations (Level 3) programme (REF:2814).
