Entry requirements

The aim is to welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds and circumstances, empowering them to enhance their budgeting competency regardless of their employment status or educational background. A basic level of literacy and numeracy competency equivalent to Step 1 (Reading/Numeracy) on the Learning Progressions Scale on the Literacy and Numeracy for Adults Assessment Tool (LNAAT) is necessary to undertake this micro-credential. However, suitability is determined through an initial interview process and is at the discretion of the Training Manager.

What can I expect out of this qualification?

This micro-credential is designed for individuals seeking to enhance their financial resilience and independence, such as people experiencing financial hardship, those with limited financial literacy, or individuals looking to gain more control over their financial situation. The micro-credential provides formal recognition of the learner's ability to create and manage a personal budget while incorporating effective debt management strategies such as a repayment plan or savings plan. Learners will develop practical financial skills, including setting financial goals, managing their household budget, and handling debt responsibly. Upon completion, learners will have gained the knowledge, skills, and confidence to manage their finances sustainably and can improve employability by demonstrating financial competence in both personal and work contexts. In addition, it offers an entry-level competency that serves as a pathway to further education in financial literacy, budgeting, or debt management.
