About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

This micro-credential (MCD) is designed to develop the knowledge and skills of learners to the level where they can assist (with major responsibility for their own learning and performance) with the implementation of aspects of primary industry related safety tractor, mechanised tractor driven equipment and maintenance applicable to a rural context. Learners will gain skills which include safe use of tractors, and mechanised equipment and the basic maintenance of equipment. This MCD is targeted at individuals within the care of the Department of Corrections who want to develop their skills to contribute to safe and effective operation of tractors, mechanised equipment and maintenance during farming type activities.

Minimum requirements

16 years of age or over NZ Citizen or Permanent Resident There are no academic entry prerequisites for this micro-credential, however, if diagnostic testing upon enrolment indicates that the learner is at Step 3 or below for Literacy then a support plan will be put in place to enable successful completion of the MCD. Applicants whose first language is not English require an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of 5.5 or above (or equivalent) for enrolment.
