About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this micro-credential is to enable learners to be trained and qualified in providing support and care for people with dementia by giving them the essential knowledge and skills to be able to provide a high quality of care.

The target learner group is unqualified healthcare workers in aged care facilities.

Graduates of this micro-credential will possess the essential knowledge and skills to be able to provide support and care for people with dementia.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Domestic applicants must be: -Sufficiently competent in numeracy and literacy to be able to complete the programme -Minimum of 16 years of age -An interview is required upon application for the programme. -New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident -Access to a digital device such as computer, laptop, tablet with Microsoft Word installed -Basic computer and internet skills -Internet access -Own a mobile phone International students must be: -18 years or older -have an IELTS General or Academic score of at least 5.5, with no band score lower than 5 OR alternative NZQA approved proficiency outcomes for entry at level 4. -Must be living in New Zealand throughout the duration of their study -Must be employed in the healthcare sector -Enrolment on the programme must be supported by the employer -Access to a digital device such as computer, laptop or tablet with Microsoft Word installed -Basic computer and internet skills -Internet access -Own a mobile phone Note: One of the entry requirements for this micro-credential is that learners must be employed in an aged healthcare facility
