What can I expect out of this qualification?

This micro-credential provides training for people in New Zealand to gain skills and knowledge in the control and management of rural pest-animals.
The purpose of this micro-credential is to meet the needs of industry stakeholders, community/volunteer groups, Iwi/Hapu groups and organisations who require their employees or volunteers to gain skills in pest-animal control.
It will also meet the needs of people who wish to improve their employability or pathways to higher level study in relevant fields (pre-employment skills or study pathways).
Relevant industries include conservation, tourism, Iwi/Hapu industries and primary industries.
This micro-credential aims to provide knowledge and practical skills to carry out practical rural pest-animal control; understand the impacts of effective rural pest-animal control; and use a GPS device effectively for rural pest control.

Minimum requirements

16 years of age or over NZ Citizen or Permanent Resident All applicants will be required to meet with the tutor or field officer of the programme they are applying for prior to starting - this will be an informal conversation which will include covering the programme expectations and getting a better understanding of suitability for the programme. Where there are more applicants than places available or the programme is not the best fit, a waiting list will be kept, or our team will work with you to provide a suitable alternative. On completion of this conversation the tutor will assist with filling in the full application form to move into the next part if the enrolment process
