What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this micro-credential is to provide a formal credential for steel fixers/reinforcement installer already working in the industry, those who are new to the industry, and to encourage school leavers into the industry.
This micro-credential addresses an identified skill gap for steel fixing/reinforcement installation in the construction and infrastructure industries.
The micro-credential is an entry level stand-alone credential and may lead to further qualifications in construction and infrastructure.

Minimum requirements

Applicants must be: * 16 years or over * In employment and/or engaging with work in steel fixing/reinforcement * The employer and Akonga/learner in conjunction with VHNZ must complete a training agreement. Offer of place is subject to the VHNZ approval. Suitability to enrol will be established through an interview to identify: * ability to complete the training. * employer/workplace support. * support for disabled Akonga/learners who can still meet the physical demands of a steel fixing/reinforcement role. * language and literacy/numeracy proficiency. VHNZ will work with support organisations e.g., literacy Aoteroa to provide support for Akonga/learners during delivery.
