About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

Through the structured approach of the Preparing a Research Funding Application Micro-Credential, ākonga identify a funding opportunity, develop an application, and prepare to submit the application. Securing extramural funding is important to facilitate research activities while
simultaneously providing an objective review of the proposed work. Furthermore, securing extramural funding is a crucial stream of revenue for research institutions, and important in the ākonga PBRF portfolio, if participating. The development of funding applications can be extremely
time demanding and is often unfruitful, particularly for inexperienced and early-career researchers. Graduates of the Preparing a Research Funding Application Micro-credential will be able to evaluate appropriate funding opportunities for their research activities and prepare an
application for extramural funding for research. Ākonga will compose a research funding application through evaluating and applying a range of relevant research funding components. A significant portion of developing a funding application focuses on planning investigation. The aim
of the funding application is to strategically position ākonga research, so that research steps are outlined clearly, Te Tiriti partnerships are considered, ways to overcome potential pitfalls are outlined, and the outcomes are detailed within a broader context of current societal challenges.
