Suitability and expected commitment
This micro-credential is best suited for a learner currently with access to a Māori community health and wellbeing setting that enables them to meet all micro-credential outcomes.
Community support is critical to the success of the candidate undertaking this micro-credential. In order to support a ākonga completing this micro-credential, employers, stakeholders and others in the community will need to, as appropriate:
- allow study time;
- provide cultural mentoring, coaching, and pastoral care;
- provide attestors and observers as required.
Te Rau Matatau will ensure that new and returning students are enrolled in a consistent, efficient and standardised manner. All student enrolment activities and practices will comply with internal policies, regulations and processes, the requirements of the Education Act 1989 and the relevant conditions of the Tertiary Education Commission.

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The aim of this micro-credential is to provide an opportunity for health workforce kaimahi as well as whānau who provide or receive health care and services to:
- Understand health promotion from a Māori cultural context.
- Explore and apply concepts, approaches, and models consistent with Māori models of health and wellness.
- Develop knowledge and skills to implement health promotion activities appropriate for Māori communities.
