About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

This qualification provides the engineering fabrication, steel construction, manufacturing, mechanical engineering and related industries with skilled welders who have attained the knowledge and skills required to safely and independently perform welding tasks to industry standards.

The qualification has been designed for individuals who are already working within an industry and wish to operate independently as a skilled welder, and individuals wishing to enter an industry as a skilled welder.

Graduates will be able to operate independently within their chosen discipline(s) and follow the written procedures utilised by their employer.

Minimum requirements

To enrol in this programme, the following entry requirements must be met: * Applicants should be at least 16 years of age. * Applicants must have completed secondary education, equivalent to NCEA Level 2, or have relevant work experience. * Applicants must undertake a pre-entry interview to determine their suitability for the programme. International Students: International applicants are required to submit proof of their language proficiency. This proof must demonstrate that the student has successfully reached the necessary outcome in one of the global proficiency tests mentioned in the Appendix Table of the Programme Approval, Recognition and Accreditation Rules 2022. Please note, this achievement should have been obtained within the two-year period before the programme's commencement date.
