About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the infrastructure industry with people who have the knowledge and skills to operate plant on infrastructure worksites.

This qualification is intended for people who want to gain recognition as plant operators who can meet the requirements for internal workplace operator competency frameworks.

Graduates of this qualification will be able to work under supervision carrying out plant operations safely with quality outcomes.

Minimum requirements

Applicants will need to have: NCEA Level 1 with passes in English/Te Reo Maori or education achievement at least equivalent to NCEA level 2 and or be able to demonstrate at interview, the ability to complete the academic and practical requirements for the programme and the New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works Level 2 or demonstrated equivalent competencies. This programme requires working outdoors requiring applicants to be physically able, in good health and not suffering any form of head trauma or poor vision. A medical certificate from their health professional may be required for applicants with these and other medical conditions or specific medical needs.
