About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the infrastructure industry with people who have relevant knowledge and skills that can be applied to a range of standard infrastructure works processes. It is the cornerstone qualification for those graduates wanting to move into an infrastructure career pathway.

Graduates of this qualification are able to carry out infrastructure works operations safely and to a quality standard in a variety of infrastructure works contexts.

Graduates of the optional strand in Plant Operation are also able to safely and effectively operate plant for infrastructure works.

All graduates will be capable of working under limited supervision.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Be physically capable of undertaking all practical tasks associated with working on a civil infrastructure works site. Candidates must be capable of undertaking general physical work tasks including lifting and carrying light loads, digging and moving soil or aggregates manually. Candidates who suffer joint or back issues should gain a medical certificate from a medical practitioner prior to attending this programme. Have existing knowledge and skills in numeracy and literacy at LLN Level 2, preferably LLN Level 3 or higher prior to attending this programme. Literacy and numeracy will be assessed at an early stage of the programme to allow time for informed action plans to be undertaken in support of any learner that may struggle in this regard. Have a minimum Driver s Licence of Restricted in support of the compulsory programme requirements. To complete the optional Strand for Plant Operation a minimum Driver s Licence of Full Class 1 will be required prior to commencement of the programme. Be at least 16 years of age at the time the programme commences
