What can I expect out of this qualification?

The aim of Graduate Diploma in Construction Management is to enable graduates to extend on previous learning to attain an occupationally-specific set of knowledge, skills, and personal attributes or dispositions. This will equip them to work in the construction industry as construction managers working with residential and commercial buildings, major construction projects and specialist areas. Graduates of the programme will be prepared to contribute in middle management roles, through all stages of projects in the construction industry. They will have a strong sense of responsibility for their own practice, and will be effective collaborators with other construction-related disciplines.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

A relevant New Zealand bachelor degree in a construction or engineering related field, for example; BCon (excluding Construction Management), BEng, BEngTech, BArch, BAS, or equivalent. Additional Requirements: Students will be required to provide a curriculum vitae, transcript or portfolio to demonstrate your understanding of timber-framed construction technologies. If you do not have this evidence you will need to complete GXSM500 Construction Residential and Commercial, before commencing the programme English Requirements: IELTS 6.0 Academic (no lower than 5.5 in any subtest). For acceptable alternatives refer to the English Proficiency Outcomes Chart on Ara Institute of Canterbury s website. Applicants who have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance requirements are not required to provide evidence of English language skills
