About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the security sector with individuals who have obtained the fundamental knowledge and skills required to work as a security officer.
This qualification is suitable for individuals who want to operate as a security officer in the security industry or for individuals already operating in the security industry who would like to gain recognition for current experience.
Graduates will be capable of carrying out a broad range of tasks under limited supervision and will demonstrate transferable skills in a security work environment.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Entry is open to domestic students who are at least 16 years old and international students who are at least 18 years old at the time of enrolment. Students must be proficient in the English language (both written and spoken) to at least a basic level, participate in an interview process and complete a literacy/ numeracy screening test. Applicants must also possess a basic level of physical fitness to allow them to complete the practical aspects of the training. International students for whom English is not their First Language are required to have an IELTS score of 5 with no band score lower than 5. ATC New Zealand accepts other internationally recognised tests and other methods, where relevant, of providing acceptable evidence of English language proficiency as listed under rule 18 of NZQF Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules 2018, and in particular the 'Acceptable evidence of English language proficiency' found at: http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/providers-partners/qa-system-for-teos/english-international-students/ Applicants are required to undergo police vetting. Enrolment is subject to approval by the National Manager.
