About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide New Zealand workplaces with people that have the skills, knowledge, and attributes to promote, monitor, and improve health and safety practices.

Graduates will have in-depth skills, knowledge, and attributes of health and safety practice in the workplace. Graduates may apply these skills in supervisory roles across a wide range of fields.

Graduates will benefit New Zealand workplaces, the community, and their whānau by promoting, and contributing to, health and safety in the workplace.

This qualification is designed for people who have, or are intending to have a workplace health and safety function as part of their primary job role.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Entry will be in accordance the Toi Ohomai QMS, also applicants must have NCEA Level 2, OR equivalent knowledge and skills. Evidence of English language competency where English is not a first language. Detailed Requirements For international applicants who come from non-English speaking backgrounds, an IELTS General or Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5.0, or an equivalent relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined in NZQF-related rules (Rule 18). For domestic applicants for whom English is not their first language, evidence of language competency may be required.
