About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide New Zealand workplaces with people who have the foundation health and safety skills, knowledge, and attributes to participate in workplace health and safety.

Graduates will have general skills and knowledge of the health and safety requirements and responsibilities and how these are associated with a workplace.

Graduates will be able to apply these skills under limited supervision.

This qualification is intended for people who are intending to work, or working within a New Zealand workplace.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Applicants must be in employment. Students enrolled in the Energy Strand must have access to an Energy or Chemical Plant. Applicants shld demonstrate an ability to succeed, shown by the completion of: NCEA Lv1 Literacy & Numeracy requirements. *Applicants who do not meet the academic entry criteria above may be admitted to the programme if they are able to demonstrate: Equivalent knowledge and skills and/or; Previous and relevant life skills or work experience and/or; Other formal or informal study such as to suggest likelihood of successful programme completion *Applicants applying under life skills/work experience may be required to take challenge assessments as part of the application process, in order to establish ability to study successfully on the programme. Applicants whose first language is not English are required to provide evidence of having passed such test of English language competence as detailed in Policy and Procedure English Language Proficiency
