About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide Aotearoa New Zealand with graduates who can protect and advocate for children.

Graduates will be able to speak out and take action to promote safety and wellbeing of children and a culture of child protection, and will be empowered to take a leadership role to advocate for children in situations where an organisation, community or societal response is required.

This qualification is designed for people who are working in or intending to enter into roles that affect children.

Minimum requirements

A robust entry criteria process is undertaken to ensure the suitability of learners to complete this programme of study, particularly in regards to their emotional well-being and resilience to the course content. For learners to be eligible to enroll in and progress through this programme of study they must: * Be a New Zealand citizen or have permanent residency status * Be suitable for this programme of study in regards to time and commitment to study, as well as resilience to the emotional component of this course, and able to ensure that their safety and wellbeing will be maintained throughout the duration of this course * Have successfully completed the Child Matters Child Protection Studies Programme or equivalent to demonstrate they have a basic child protection understanding.
