About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the community with advisors who can apply scientific knowledge of the human body to assist people with the prevention of lifestyle based health issues.

Graduates working under supervision will be able to contribute to wellbeing by advocating for good nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices based on current health science and wellness trends.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

The programme is open to both domestic and international applicants. International applicants must be 18 years or older on commencing the programme. Every applicant must be approved for admission by the Faculty Lead or their delegate. Applicants must fulfil the following requirements for general admission into the Diploma in Health Science (Level 5). General Admission To be considered for general admission, applicants must: * Have achieved NCEA level 2 * Have a Level 3 qualification in e.g., Health and Wellbeing * Have achieved a secondary education standard equivalent to a minimum of NCEA Level 2 for example a lower secondary education certificate in Greece, Grade 10 of an Indian Education Board, or UK GCSEs (of no lower than grade C) In addition to the above entry requirements international students must have: * Internationally recognised English proficiency: * IELTS General or Academic score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5 Applicants who enroll on the blended or online programme will need access to a computer with basic hardware requirements, a microphone, and a reliable internet connection. When required, the Faculty Leader may interview candidates to determine their eligibility for admission entry and selection into their intended programme of study. Special Admission Category Applicants who do not meet the requirements for general admission but, who have two years relevant work experience and an appropriate set of skills to enable success on the programme may apply for special admission based on the provision of supporting documentation about their relevant experience and skills. The application must be supported by: * A portfolio detailing their work and life experience and any courses they have undertaken whether or not credit bearing, and /or * Documented health and social care experience including, for example, volunteering.
