What can I expect out of this qualification?

Graduates from this qualification will be able to teach in a variety of early childhood settings. All graduates will meet the requirements of the Graduating Teacher Standards: Aotearoa/New Zealand (Education Council of Aotearoa New Zealand, 2007).

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

NZQA University Entrance or equivalent; or evidence of ability to meet literacy and numeracy requirements, and English language competency where English is not a first language. Character references, police checks and an interview are required. Detailed Requirements For entry under 20 years of age, candidates are required to have University Entrance (UE). International candidates must have the equivalent to UE as approved by the Education Council of Aotearoa New Zealand. For entry over 20 years of age, candidate must meet comparable literacy and numeracy requirements as for UE. For candidates who come from non-English speaking backgrounds, English language competency requirements for teaching in Aotearoa New Zealand as set by the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand must be met (see Appendix 7), unless candidates qualify as an exempted case. Candidates will be required to pass a literacy test. Candidates will be required to pass a numeracy test
