What can I expect out of this qualification?

This qualification provides the light automotive engineering industry with individuals who have attained the knowledge and skills required to safely and effectively diagnose and repair faults that are commonly encountered on light vehicles, including cars, light commercial vehicles or light trailers.

The qualification is designed for individuals who are interested in a career as a light automotive engineer.

Graduates of this qualification can work independently and may take some responsibility for monitoring the workplace.

Minimum requirements

New Zealand Certificate in Automotive Engineering (Level 3) Alternative Requirements Evidence of equivalent skills and knowledge. dditional Requirements A managed apprentice must be employed as a managed apprentice in a light automotive engineering workshop, which is operating at a commercially acceptable industry standard. Enrolment into this programme will also require the apprentice, employer, and provider to enter into a training agreement. Additional Recommendations (as per the NZQA qualification document) A current Class 1 Driver Licence.
