What can I expect out of this qualification?

This qualification is intended for learners who are seeking to develop a range of essential skills and knowledge in the skin care, beauty and related industries.
These sectors will benefit by having access to graduates with the skills and knowledge to competently and safely undertake a range of essential skin care and make-up services within workplaces where skin care, make-up and other cosmetics products are applied and sold.
Graduates of this qualification will have developed practical application of knowledge and skills in preparation for further study but will also be capable of working with initial supervision in a skin care and beauty context.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

For applicants under 20 years of age, NCEA Level 1 or equivalent. For applicants 20 years of age and over, there are no minimum academic requirements. All applicants must have a level of English sufficient to be able to study at this level. Those applicants whose first language is not English should have an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall Academic score of at least 5 issued within the last two years with no less than 5 in any band or equivalent. In exceptional circumstances, an applicant under the age of 20 years who does not meet the academic entry requirements may be granted entry to the programme if s/he supply evidence of his/her ability to succeed on the programme.
