About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
This qualification is intended for individuals who wish to pursue a career as a musician in the music and broader performing arts industries.
It provides these industries with individuals who have a range of skills in music composition, performance and production to operate competently and creatively.
Graduates will be able to apply their skills in live and/or studio performance contexts to contribute to the cultural, social and economic life of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Academic requirements: New Zealand Certificate in Music (Level 4) or equivalent skills and knowledge. English language requirements: All applicants must have a level of English sufficient to be able to study at this level. Those students whose first language is not English should have an international English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall academic score of at least 5.5 (with at least 5 in each band) issued within the last two years, or A qualification considered to be equivalent to the above. Other requirements: All applicants must provide evidence of a reasonable level of music performance and/or music production proficiency, demonstrated by at least one of the following: * Playing a musical instrument * Singing * Composing music * Original music composed/created/produced/performed using electronic or other means * Skills and knowledge used in recording or producing music * Music events management * Music business experience Other requirements for fully online study: Applicants must provide evidence of meeting the requirements for fully online study. Special Entry: In exceptional circumstances an applicant who does not meet the full entry requirements may be granted admission to the programme on the approval of the Head of Department or delegate if he/she is confident of the applicant's ability to successfully undertake the Diploma with a reasonable likelihood of success. Qualifications other than those listed in the Entry Requirements above will need to be assessed for equivalence, and applicants holding these qualifications will need to seek Special Entry permission from the Head of Department.
