What can I expect out of this qualification?
This qualification is intended for individuals who wish to develop their skill and knowledge in music.
It provides graduates who have fundamental skills in musical theory, instrumental performance, and basic music technologies relevant to pursuing a career in the music and broader performing arts industries.
Graduates will be able to apply these skills individually and collaboratively to contribute to the cultural, social and economic life of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Minimum requirements
Application by Academic Qualification (under 20 years of age) Applicants should be 16 years of age, or older, have successfully completed NCEA Level 1 or equivalent, and have achieved a minimum standard of English as demonstrated by a minimum of 8 credits at NCEA Level 1 in English. Special Application (over 20 years of age). Consideration will be given to applicants aged 20 years or older who do not meet the entry criteria if they can demonstrate a history of work, industry experience which in the opinion of the Programme Managers exhibits a likelihood of success in the programme of study. All Applicants All applicants are required to attend an audition covering: instrumental or vocal skills and ability, aptitude and potential to study music within a range of disciplines, musical aural competence and music theory literacy tested at time of audition (equivalent to Grade 1 level).
