What can I expect out of this qualification?

The aim of the Master of Early Childhood Education is to grow professionals into exemplary practitioners in early childhood education. The qualification provides a context in which students advance and extend their professional knowledge and skills through:
Critical engagement, research and scholarship in a range of contemporary early childhood education topics and discourse;
Independent thinking and critical consciousness';
Self-reflexivity of teaching and learning pedagogies;
Research and critical reflection on practice as it relates to the field of early childhood education.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Applicants for the Master of Early Childhood Education must have a Bachelor degree at Level 7 (360 credits) or higher qualification. Applicants for whom English is a second language and Te Reo Maori is not their first language must provide evidence of an Academic IELTS score issued within the last two years of at least 6.5 overall, 6.5 in writing with no band score lower than 6 or equivalent. IELTS scores may be combined from two tests as long as on one test a minimum of 6.5 overall and 6.0 in each component is achieved.
