About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

This qualification provides the automotive industry with individuals who can service general automotive systems.

The qualification is designed for people who are beginning a career in the automotive industry or people intending to enter the industry.

Graduates will benefit by having a qualification which recognises the skills and knowledge in the automotive industry that support improved job performance and enhance future learning and employment opportunities.

Graduates of this qualification will be able to work in entry-level positions under limited supervision.

Minimum requirements

Details (run on 02/04/20) Page 1 of 2 Entry criteria - Entry into this programme is open. There is no academic requirement. However, applicants are required to hold a Class 1 Drivers Licence, with a minimum requirement of a Learners licence, working towards a restricted. English language - Applicants whose first language is not English, or who come from a country where the language of instruction in schools or other teaching institutions is not English, are required to provide evidence of having passed such test of English language competence as required in the Policy and Procedure English Language Proficiency. Literacy and Numeracy requirement - A literacy and numeracy assessment is part of the preparation for all level one to three programmes. This is a national requirement from the TEC. This information gives the tutors an insight into what the student may already know and will also provide the help they may need in their studies. There are two assessments. The first assessment will take place within the first 3 weeks of the programme. The final assessment will show the student how they have improved with their Literacy and Numeracy skills. For applicants to successfully complete this qualification, it is recommended that they are at Step 4 Reading and Step 5 Numeracy of the assessment tool result which is the level the programme is mapped at under the Literacy and Numeracy progressions.
