What can I expect out of this qualification?

This qualification is intended for individuals aspiring to or engaged in a career in adult, tertiary or vocational teaching or training who have a qualification or equivalent experience in their trade, vocation or other primary discipline. It represents the expected sector baseline qualification for a professional adult and tertiary teaching practitioner.

Graduates of this qualification have the skills and capabilities to provide high quality, contemporary and culturally appropriate teaching and learning in a range of teaching or training contexts.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

This programme will be open to learners aged 16 years and above. All learners will go through the selection interview process to ensure they are able to meet the requirements of the programme and be eligible to meet the criteria of the funding. The minimum standard expected from the learners to enrol in the programme is a Step 4 or above in Numeracy and Reading on the Literacy and Numeracy Adult Assessment Tool. Candidates who will be working with learners who are 18 years and under in their practicum will also be required to undergo a safety check to comply with the requirements of the Vulnerable Children Act 2014. Participants will need to have an interest in adult and tertiary education, and the potential to develop their skills in this area. This will be ascertained during the Selection Interview. Learners will be need to have access to an appropriate group of learners, however, should they not have this, People Potential will arrange a suitable placement for the practical aspects of the programme.
