Key Information for Students

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Prerequisites for entry to the programme: * NCEA Level 2, Sixth Form Certificate or equivalent educational level; * 45 wpm (words per minute) keyboarding speed and 90% accuracy. Evidence of keyboarding speed can be via any recognised typing qualification or by the provision of typing speed via an online test. The provider is able to deliver timed typing tests that measure both speed and accuracy for this purpose. The provider may, at their discretion, accept applicants with less than 45wpm typing speed within the following guidelines: o 40 - 45 wpm acceptable o 30 - 35 wpm acceptable if the applicant has prior medical knowledge e.g. nurses who wish to retrain would already have a high level of medical knowledge and so would find those subjects easier and could therefore put more focus into improving the typing speed. o Typing speeds below 30 wpm are not acceptable for entry nor is accuracy below 80%. It is recommended that these applicants complete a typing skills course to improve their skills prior to course enrolment. Students will require the use of a PC with an internet connection.
