What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the environmental management sector with individuals who have in-depth skills and knowledge required to work in this field.
This qualification is targeted at people who have some expertise in an area of environmental studies and wish to develop further.
Aotearoa/ New Zealand will benefit from having graduates who have specific knowledge of ecosystems, and how they are influenced by human activities, allowing for informed environmental management.
Graduates will be capable of working autonomously.

Minimum requirements
Detailed Requirements Completion of New Zealand Diploma in Environmental Management level 5 (or equivalent) First aid certificate is recommended otherwise, the applicant will be required to complete before the end of the programme. Special Admission For applicants for whom English is not their first language, evidence of language competency may be required. If learners select the diving option then applicants must provide a certified doctor s certificate within two weeks of the programme start date stating they are fit to dive. Special admission: Applicants who have not completed all of the Diploma in Environmental Management Level 5 courses, may be given special admission if they can provide evidence that they are capable of achieving the programme outcomes. International applicants for whom English is not their first language will be required to show evidence of language competency, issued within the last two years. The level of competency required is: IELTS general or academic score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5 or completed NZ Certificate in English Language Level 4 with the Academic endorsement or meets a relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined in NZQF related Rules (Rule 18) The Table.
