About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the environmental management sector with individuals who have the skills and knowledge to operate effectively and independently.
This qualification is designed for people planning to work in environmental management.
The strands recognise those who wish to specialise in the fields of marine or terrestrial ecosystems, or conservation operations.
Aotearoa/New Zealand will benefit from having graduates who are able to contribute to environmental management through the application of technical skills and knowledge.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

All domestic applicants under the age of 20: Minimum of 42 credits at Level 3 NCEA or equivalent (suggested subjects are English, Mathematics and Biology/Sciences) Equivalent educational achievement, or Able to satisfy their ability to complete physical requirements of the programme. Special Admission For applicants for whom English is not their first language, evidence of language competency may be required. International applicants for whom English is not their first language will be required to show evidence of language competency, issued within the last two years. The level of competency required is: IELTS general or academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5 or completed NZ Certificate in English Language Level 3 with an endorsement of either General, Workplace or Academic, or meets a relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined in NZQF related Rules (Rule 18) The Table.
