What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the aeronautical engineering industry with graduates equipped with a comprehensive base of core aeronautical engineering skills and knowledge.
This qualification is intended for learners who are planning to embark on a career in the aviation industry as an aeronautical engineer.
Graduates of this qualification will be able to work safely in an aeronautical engineering context, to carry out engineering tasks under direct supervision.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Entry into this programme requires the successful completion of placement tests. One test is for English, the other is for mathematics, physics, and general engineering knowledge. The tests are followed by an interview. Enrolment in the programme is subject to approval by the Programmes Coordinator. It is recommended that applicants have successfully completed NCEA [Level 2 or 3] in maths, physics, and English, along with a technology subject; and can demonstrate evidence of a strong interest or hobby in a mechanical or electrical field. A determination is made on a case by case basis for applicants who do not meet these criteria.
