What can I expect out of this qualification?

This qualification is intended for those who have advanced knowledge and understanding of mātauranga Māori, and extensive experience working with Māori communities.
The purpose of this qualification is to provide graduates who can lead, promote, and enhance the continued development of Māori Public Health, and encourage Māori to take control of their social, economic, cultural, and collective wellbeing.
Graduates will be able to design and evaluate Māori Public Health initiatives incorporating social, economic, cultural and environmental contexts that contribute to the reduction of Māori health inequities.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Good character and a genuine desire to work in the field of counselling. Commitment to living and role modelling health and wellbeing with a clear intention to be of service to others. Academic capability for tertiary study up Level 6; evidenced by prior tertiary study in a related field at Levels 5 or 6, or by completion of a competency test. Current on-the-job experience in the health or social service sector and/or prior qualifications/practical experience up to and equivalent to Level 5. Demonstrated commitment to study and succeeding. Successful NZ Police vetting check (Vulnerable Childen s Act).
