What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide people with the skills, capabilities, knowledge and attributes needed to progress and succeed in their field of study or employment pathway.

This qualification is for people intending to pursue further qualifications in their chosen field of study or employment pathway at New Zealand Qualifications Framework Level 4 or above.

The qualification acknowledges the primacy of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in programme design and delivery.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

A student must be: * a minimum of 16 years of age for acceptance on this programme; And/Or * at school over the age of 16 years who is intending to leave school to gain employment. Students who are recommended by a school; or those who are not in education, employment or training will be counselled by OCA and Fono staff to assess the likelihood of their achievement of the programme and the value of the outcome to their future vocational and/or education pathway; * or a person who has left school and is currently not in employment, education or training; * or a person in the community seeking motivation and a change in a direction related to employment; * successful applicants must have the physical capability and a level of literacy and numeracy to achieve success (the OCA generic tutor position requires the tutor to have qualifications or equivalency in adult literacy). Applicants will be interviewed as part of the OCA Whanau Ora approach to support and guidance and to assess their individual goals and possible requirements for targeted assistance to achieve them.
