What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide people with the academic skills, capabilities, knowledge and attributes needed to prepare for higher level education or employment.

This qualification is for people intending to pursue further qualifications in their chosen field of study or employment pathway at New Zealand Qualifications Framework Level 5 or above.

The qualification acknowledges the primacy of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in programme design and delivery.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

All applicants should be a minimum of 18 years of age. Domestic students must meet ONE of the following: * Have attained a minimum of 40 credits at NCEA Level 2 or equivalent * Have completed a NZ Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 3) or equivalent foundation learning programme * Literacy 10 credits at Level 2 or above, made up of five credits in reading and five credits in writing; Numeracy 10 credits at Level 1 or above, made up of achievement standards specified achievement standards available through a range of subjects, or unit standards package of three numeracy unit standards (26623, 26626 and 26627 all three required) * Completed NZ Certificate in Sport, Recreation and Exercise (Multi Sector) L3 or equivalent Be able to demonstrate skills for tertiary study (including literacy and numeracy) that have been acquired through study, work and/or life experience For international students, a minimum English language achievement level of IELTS 5.5 with no band score lower than 5.0 or equivalent*, is required for entry into this programme. All applicants will be interviewed and relevant background checks to ensure their suitability for the programme and demonstrate in the field of sport, health, exercise and recreation. Successful completion of NZMA Introduction to Esport programme (or equivalent level of foundational understanding of the esport industry and NCEA level 1 or equivalent) Academic Criteria: * Hold a qualification at Level 3 NZQF or equivalent. English Language Criteria * International applicants: General or Academic IELTS score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5, or equivalent NZQA Recognised International English Proficiency. * Domestic applicants with ESOL: must be proficient in English language.
