What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide people with the academic skills, capabilities, knowledge and attributes needed to prepare for higher level education or employment.

This qualification is for people intending to pursue further qualifications in their chosen field of study or employment pathway at New Zealand Qualifications Framework Level 5 or above.

The qualification acknowledges the primacy of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in programme design and delivery.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

The programme accepts registrations from both domestic and international applicants. Applicants to this programme who have no secondary schooling or have only NCEA level 1 attainment or the equivalent will require an entry assessment (including a literacy test) to establish eligibility. Applicants who have NCEA level 2 attainment (or above) or evidence of equivalent knowledge and skills have open entry to apply. For applicants for whom English is not their first language an Academic English IELTS score of 5.5 or higher with a minimum of 5.0 in reading and writing (or the equivalent in an alternative test) is required.
