About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the health sector industry and massage therapy profession with people who can provide wellness and relaxation massage services.
Graduates will be able to work within the Massage New Zealand Scope of Practice Wellness and Relaxation Massage.
Graduates will communicate with and refer to remedial massage therapists, allied health professionals, wellness and medical professionals for those specialist services.
Graduates will be capable of working independently.

Minimum requirements

Entry into this programme requires applicants to have 80 Credits at NCEA Level 2, with 10 Credits in English plus numeracy and literacy or equivalent. Discretionary entry for applicants of 20 years or older (based on pre-enrolment interview). International students must provide evidence of English language proficiency as outlined in NZQA's Internationally Recognised English Proficiency Outcomes for International Students table (http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/about-us/our-role/legislation/nzqa-rules/nzqf-related-rules/the-table/) or other NZQA acceptable evidence of English language proficiency, as detailed in Rule 18 of the NZQF Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules 2021 (https://www.nzqa.govt.nz/assets/About-us/Our-role/Rules/2021/SIGNED-NZQF-Programme-Approval-and-Accrediation-Rules-2021.pdf) All applicants will be required to undertake police-vetting to ensure safety of other students and clients, and be interviewed by the College to ensure their suitability for the programme (including mental / physical wellness assessment to give and receive massage during the programme)
