Minimum requirements
Applicants must be aged 16 years or over at the time of commencing the apprenticeship. Prospective apprentices under the age of 18 should seek independent advice on whether an apprenticeship is the right option for them before enrolling. Applicants must be New Zealand Citizens, or hold permanent resident or refugee status. Applicants must be physically able to complete construction works activities which will include standing for prolonged periods and lifting weights up to 20kg. Applicants who do not have English as their first language must hold International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5.5 in General Training Reading and General Training Writing or equivalent. This is to ensure all training and assessment requirements can be understood by the apprentice. Applicants must provide evidence of their English language skills prior to enrolment.
