What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the mechanical engineering, construction, manufacturing, and fabrication industries with people who have sufficient underpinning knowledge, understanding, and practical skill to work under limited supervision as operators or trade assistants within their chosen discipline.
This qualification is designed for people already working in the mechanical engineering or engineering fabrication industry or people intending to complete a pre-trade qualification before entering the industry.
Graduates will be capable of performing a defined range of engineering tasks under limited supervision.

Minimum requirements
Entry is open to applicants over 16. Applicants must be proficient in the English language (both written and spoken) to at least a basic level, participate in an interview process and complete a literacy/numeracy screening test. Enrolment is subject to approval by the Head of School. International students must have an IELTS General or Academic score of 5 with no band score lower than 5. ATC New Zealand accepts other internationally recognised tests and other methods, where relevant, of providing acceptable evidence of English language proficiency as listed under rule 18 of NZQF Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules 2013, and in particular the 'Acceptable evidence of English language proficiency' found at: http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/providers-partners/qa-system-for-teos/english-international-students/
