What can I expect out of this qualification?

This qualification is intended for people who are experienced workers in the horticulture industry who want to develop their skills and knowledge to supervise day to day operations in horticulture production.

It recognizes the specific skills and knowledge of individuals who can, in a self-managed capacity, take responsibility for the daily operations in a horticulture production sector.

Graduates will be able to work independently and may have some responsibility for the performance of others.

The qualification includes strands that recognises the distinct skills and knowledge for specific horticulture production sectors.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Students must: * Be 17 years of age or above. * Have achieved NCEA Level 2 (or equivalent). * Be physically fit to complete practical aspects of the programme (About 60-65% of the programme will involve field work). * Mature students (aged 21 or above) who have not previously achieved the academic entry requirement may, following interview by the Director, be granted admission to the programme. International students must also: * be 18 years of Age or above. * Have English level competence (If their first language is not English, they will be required to provide evidence of IELTS (General or Academic) Level 5.5 with no band lower than 5) or equivalent evidence as approved by NZQA. * Comply with Immigration New Zealand requirements for granting of a Student Visa.
