About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

This qualification is intended for people who have significant operational experience in the sports turf industry, or who are capable of transferring their prior skills and knowledge to the sports turf industry.

It recognises the technical skills and knowledge to manage sports turf operations to maximise effectiveness working autonomously within established parameters of a sports turf business.

Graduates will be able to work autonomously and may be managing others.

Admission/Entry requirements The entry for each programme is governed by the following criteria (not an exhaustive list): * Applicant's suitability and/or eligibility or the programme applied for (16 years of age or over) * All applicants will be interviewed to consider the application for the enrolment. Acceptance will be determined at the discretion of the interviewer. Reasons for declining an application may include, but not limited to: * Availability of training places on the programme * Existence of serious behavioural problems that are known, or are established during the interview process that may compromise the safety or rights of staff or students. * Clear indications that the applicant is not genuinely interested in learning, that her/his enrolment has a very high probability in resulting in a negative outcome Academic requirements Learners enrolling are recommended to hold New Zealand Certificate in Horticulture Services (Level 4) [Ref: 2674], or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience. English requirements - International students In line with NZQA requirements for international students, where English is not the applicant's first language they will be required to provide evidence of their English language skills in line with NZQA requirements. Evidence that the student has: * achieved NCEA level 3 and has met New Zealand university entrance requirements; or * been awarded a Bachelor Degree, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Bachelor Honours Degree, Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma, Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree with English as the language of instruction, from tertiary education providers from New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the Republic of Ireland, South Africa, the United Kingdom or the United States; or * been awarded the Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) *
