What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the gasfitting sector with people who are skilled as gasfitting tradespersons and ready to apply for registration as a licensed gasfitter under the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Act 2006.
This qualification is designed to provide an entry into the gasfitting industry and is intended for candidates who have an apprenticeship agreement, are training in the workplace, and can fulfil the requirements of the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board Trainee Limited Certificate (TLC).
Graduates will be highly skilled and, once registered and licensed, authorised to safely carry out all gasfitting work, with reduced risk of fire, explosion, and poisoning.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
To be eligible for entry, trainees must be in employment and engaging with work related to the scope of the programme. The employer and trainee, in conjunction with The Skills Organisation, must complete a training agreement. The trainee must meet the eligibility requirements for a New Zealand Apprenticeship documented by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC). Candidates must have achieved the New Zealand Certificate in Educational Achievement (Level 2) in Mathematics, English, and Physics or General Science, or equivalent knowledge and skills before starting the qualification.
