About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the plumbing, gasfitting, and drainlaying industries with people who:
- have basic skills and knowledge in plumbing, gasfitting, and drainlaying
- have an awareness of the requirements of the regulatory environment, and
- are ready to enter an apprenticeship.
The New Zealand community will benefit from having graduates who are able to assist in ensuring public safety in the provision of gas, water services, and drainage.
Graduates will be capable of assisting with plumbing, gasfitting, and drainlaying work under supervision.

Minimum requirements
This programme is Open Entry. However, applicants must demonstrate a reasonable likelihood of success. ? Applicants must be physically able to carry out the practical components of the programme. All International applicants must provide evidence that they have the necessary English language proficiency required for the Programme using an equivalent described in NZQA Rules.
