What can I expect out of this qualification?

This qualification is for ākonga/learners who are seeking specialised technical skills and conceptual knowledge in arts, crafts or design creative practice.

A range of industries will benefit from graduates who possess specialised arts, crafts or design creative capabilities.

Graduates will be able to operate independently in dynamic creative and commercial environments.

Minimum requirements

Academic requirements - Level 5 New Zealand Certificate in any art or design discipline or - qualification equivalent to the above English language requirements All applicants must have a level of English sufficient to be able to study at this level. Applicants whose first language is not English must have demonstrated an acceptable level of English language fluency prior to acceptance in the programme. Ways in which English language fluency may be demonstrated include successful study of a programme in which English was the language of instruction (conditions apply*), completion of a New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 4 with any endorsement), approved scores on IELTS tests (Academic score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5) or completion of accepted international equivalents. * See NZQA English language entry requirements for international students at http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/about-us/our-role/legislation/nzqa-rules/nzqf-related-rules/programme-approval-and-accreditation/8/18/ Special Entry A candidate who does not meet the academic entry requirements may be granted entry to the programme on the basis of a portfolio of evidence of their ability to succeed on the programme and subject to an interview.
