About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide Aotearoa New Zealand with people who have the essential skills to proceed to further study in a related IT field, work in the field of Information Technology (IT) as a profession under broad guidance in a range of IT entry level support roles, and to communicate with relevant stakeholders in a professional manner.

Organisations and communities will benefit from having IT graduates who have gained industry relevant transferable skills and knowledge across a range of disciplines within IT, enabling them to contribute to society, supporting digital proficiency and capability in a range of community and voluntary areas.

Minimum requirements

To be admitted to this programme all applicants must be at least 16 years of age on the date of the programme's commencement for the semester in which they wish to enrol (or provide a completed Early Release Exemption form), and meet the following requirements: All applicants must have a minimum of 4 years secondary education, and completed NCEA Level 1 or New Zealand Certificate in Computing (User Fundamentals) (Level 2) [Ref: 2591] ; Or New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Foundation User) (Level 2) [Ref: 4132]; Or New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Intermediate User) (Level 3) [Ref; 2592]; Or New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 3); Or Equivalent All applicants to this programme are also recommended to hold appropriate assessment standards in Digital Technologies Level 2.
