About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide Aotearoa New Zealand organisations and communities with graduates who have advanced level user computing skills, using digital technologies to produce and process information, operating effectively with a range of skills that will be internationally relevant.
This qualification may build on existing skills and may recognise the achievement of relevant knowledge and skills of those already employed.
Graduates will be capable of performing a wide range of computing related tasks under broad guidance in a work environment and may demonstrate self-management and some responsibility for the performance of others.
Graduates of this qualification will have the skills to enable them to proceed to further study and contribute to society by supporting digital proficiency and using their digital capability in a range of community and voluntary areas.

Minimum requirements
Entry Requirements Academic Requirements 40 credits NCEA Level 1, including 10 literacy credits and 10 numeracy credits Alternative Requirements Skills for tertiary study (including literacy and numeracy) may be acquired through study, work and/or life experience. Students who can demonstrate these skills may be approved for alternative entry. CPIT literacy and numeracy assessments are available. English Requirements If English is not your first language you may also be required to provide evidence of your English language skills as listed below. If you have no evidence of your English language skills and are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, contact us for an assessment. New Zealand Certificates In Computing Level 3 and Level 4 Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology 42 IELTS 5.5 Academic (no lower than 5.5 in any subtest). For acceptable alternatives refer to the English Proficiency Outcomes Chart. Note: Students who have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance requirements are not required to provide evidence of English Language Skills.
