About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the hospitality sector with people who are able to work as junior or trainee hospitality managers, supervisors or team leaders across a range of hospitality sectors.
Graduates will have enhanced employment opportunities within junior or trainee hospitality management, supervisor or team leader roles across a range of establishments in the hospitality sector.
This qualification establishes standards of professional practice for hospitality managers, supervisors or team leaders in a junior or trainee role that can provide customers with confidence in a range of hospitality environments.
Graduates will be able to work autonomously in a range of hospitality environments with some responsibility for the management and learning of others.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Domestic students: o Hold New Zealand Certificate in Food and Beverage Service (Level 4) with strands in Restaurant Service and Quick Service Restaurants Services or equivalent or; o Hold NCEA level 3 or a NZQF Level 3 qualification and o Equivalent skills and experience in a related role in food and beverage industry o NZ residents with English as second language may need to demonstrate sufficiency in English language. International students must meet the following criteria: o Aged 18 or older, o Completion of secondary school overseas or hold New Zealand NCEA level 3 or; o Hold New Zealand Certificate in Food and Beverage Service (Level 4) with strands in Restaurant Service and Quick Service Restaurants Services or equivalent or; o Have relevant and current industry experience o Academic or General IELTS 5.5 with no band scores less than 5.0 overall or NZQA approved equivalent. Additional requirement for learners eligible to enrol in the distance programme will also need: o Have access to a computer with prescribed basic hardware requirements as per marketing material, a microphone, and a reliable internet connection
